In a psychological view, a car most often stands for the direction in your life, your sense of control and the way you move forward. What decides the meaning is who is driving and what you feel on the journey: trust, haste or emptiness? ## The psychological view In a dream the car is often read with the course of life and the way you move forward. Who is at the wheel, how the road looks and how the speed feels give clues about your sense of control. Dream research reports that dream content shows continuity with daily experience (Source 2). If you drive often, it makes sense to think of the dream car first through your own everyday journeys. ## Variations ### Being at the wheel Being at the wheel describes feeling that you set your own direction. Was the control easy, or did you struggle? ### Someone else driving Being a passenger while someone else drives brings up the feeling of having left a decision to another. Who was the driver? ### Brakes not working Brakes that do not work describe a feeling of being unable to stop a situation. What did you do to slow down? ### Losing the car Not finding the car describes losing your direction or a means. Did you remember where you left it? ## Ask yourself - Were you at the wheel, or was someone else? - Was the road open or blocked? - In which matter do you struggle to set a direction lately? ## Related symbols - [Stairs](https://oniradreams.com/en/dream-symbols/stairs): Dreaming of stairs does not tie to a single meaning. - [House](https://oniradreams.com/en/dream-symbols/house): Dreaming of a house does not tie to a single meaning. - [Falling](https://oniradreams.com/en/dream-symbols/falling): Dreaming of falling does not tie to a single meaning. - [Flying](https://oniradreams.com/en/dream-symbols/flying): Dreaming of flying does not tie to a single meaning. ## Keep reading - [How to Keep a Dream Journal: A Step-by-Step Guide](https://oniradreams.com/en/blog/how-to-keep-a-dream-journal): How do you keep a dream journal?
