In a psychological view, flying most often stands for freedom, the wish to look at a situation from above or a feeling of lightness. What decides the meaning is what you feel while flying: delight, unease or control? ## The psychological view Flying is the action most often linked with lightness and freedom in dreams. In a psychological view, it relates to rising above a situation and looking at it from a distance, or to the wish to put down a load. Whether you hold the control while flying also changes the reading. Dream research reports that dream content connects to the experiences of waking life (Source 2). So it makes sense to think of a flying dream alongside a matter you want to lighten or see from a distance lately. ## Variations ### Flying with ease Easy flying is seen as linked to a period when your confidence grows or you shed a load. What was on your face as you flew? ### Struggling to fly Hard flying describes a situation in which you feel something blocking you from where you want to go. What slowed you down? ### Looking down from above Looking from above shows a need to see a situation at a wide angle. What was below? ### Falling while flying Falling while flying describes the sudden loss of control.
